‘Gotti’ is alive!

Mobster biopic is back on track

 January 7, 2013
The planned big-screen biopic about John Gotti seemed as if it was sleeping with the fishes a few months ago, but now it looks as if the mob film is about to be made.
Still starring John Travolta as the notorious Gambino boss, “Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father” is back on track thanks to an infusion of money and a new script finished last week.
“We’re full speed right now,” Marc Fiore, one of the film’s producers, told The Post. “We just got our newest script from [British screenwriter] Lem Dobbs. We’re going forward.”
“Gotti” had been mired in controversy since it was pitched as son John “Junior” Gotti’s take on his notorious father, who “died by the mob code” behind bars in June 2002.Plaguing the production were multimillion-dollar lawsuits brought by boldface talents, including Joe Pesci, who claimed they were duped after signing on, countless false starts and other money woes — not to mention an ensuing game of musical-chairs with directors.
Actress Lindsay Lohan was even trotted out in a high-profile press conference months ago, announcing that she would play Gotti Sr.’s wife — only to have her name later mysteriously scrubbed from the credits listed on the film’s IMDb Web site.
Junior’s lawyer Charles Carnesi might play himself in the flick.
Fiore insisted, “The movie actually never sunk.’’
Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson has signed on to the project, replacing Nick Cassavetes, and A-lister Al Pacino is set to play the late Gambino underboss and Gotti mentor Aniello Dellacroce. Hollywood heavyweight producer Ted Field is still on board, too.
And that’s all good news for Junior. He’s had outstanding tax liens against him since 2001, and a trial date has now been set to force him to deal with them.
According to legal documents obtained by The Post from various city, state and federal agencies, his bill, plus interest, totals more than $250,000.
Anothe Junior lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, said that while the trial date has been set, he hopes a settlement can be reached.

John Travolta's Gotti Still On Track

31-5-2012
The executive producer of John Travolta's upcoming mobster movie about the infamous Gotti family has dismissed reports production on the film has been shut down. The Pulp Fiction star is set to play the lead role of John Gotti in Gotti: Three Generations, but recent rumours suggested Hollywood bosses had abandoned the project after two masseurs filed sexual assault lawsuits against their leading man. The lawsuits were subsequently withdrawn and dismissed, and Gotti: Three Generations executive producer Marc Fiore is adamant production was never affected by the false allegations. He says, "I don't know why someone would say something so silly. I would not walk away from my movie because of bad PR. We are moving full steam ahead and John Travolta is still playing Gotti. John has been around quite a while... bad PR means good box office. I'm not too worried about it to be quite honest about it." Shooting is scheduled to start in November.

Travolta: Bless me, mamma Gotti

September 23, 2011

The sit-down was called to get Victoria Gotti’s “blessing” for her son’s planned biopic, which is scheduled to start shooting in January, a production source told The Post.
The pilgrimage brought Travolta to the Queens home where the late crime boss he’ll be portraying lived while ruthlessly running the Gambino crime family. The “Pulp Fiction” star arrived bearing tribute -- a gold gift bag -- for his meeting with the mob matriarch and other key players involved in the movie.

He was greeted with handshakes and hugs from John “Junior” Gotti and several other men who were outside when he showed up at 4:30 p.m.The group then disappeared inside Victoria’s white clapboard home for more than two hours. The star summit must have gone well. At one point, two kids ran to a neighbor’s house to get more ice.

Travolta emerged from his first face-to-face meeting with the domineering Gambino queen, whose notorious hubby died in prison in 2002, shortly before 7 p.m.

Travolta showed he has a better sense of omerta than most of today’s wiseguys do -- he wouldn’t say nuttin’ when asked if Mamma Gotti gave him her OK.

All the star would give up was that he was at the home doing “research for the movie.”He and his movie “son” Junior then took off together in a black Grand Cherokee Laredo. A source said they were headed to Long Island to have dinner with Junior’s sister, former reality-TV star Victoria Gotti.Producer Marc Fiore was also at the confab.“Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father,” which is being directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson, is set to start shooting in New York City in January.

Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, is set to play the elder Victoria, and “X-Men” actor Ben Foster will play Junior. The cast also includes “Godfather” star Al Pacino as Gambino family underboss Aniello “Neil” Dellacroce; Lindsay Lohan as Junior’s wife, Kim; and Chazz Palminteri as the late mob boss Paul Castellano, whose infamous 1985 rub-out in front of Sparks Steak House was believed orchestrated by the elder Gotti and paved the way for his takeover of the Gambino crime family.Junior arrived early at his mom’s house yesterday and was joined there by defense lawyer Charles Carnesi, who brought a box of Italian pastries.
Carnesi -- who helped Junior win three of four racketeering mistrials by arguing the mob scion quit the Mafia in 1999 -- is being considered to play himself, a source said.
