“It [2011] has been a windfall of activity,” said Lee Thomas, director of the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office. “Every year, it gets stronger.”

CLAYTON, GA. — Forty years after “Deliverance” wrapped, Hollywood will come to Rabun County again when actors Robert DeNiro and John Travolta begin filming the action adventure movie “Killing Season” in the coming week.
The film's director, Mark Steven Johnson, chose the area for the effect he wanted after seeing the 1972 film starring Burt Reynolds, Jon Voight, Ned Beatty and Ronnie Cox, said Pete Cleaveland, executive director of the Rabun County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“He wanted that same rugged beauty,” Cleaveland said Friday.
The filming in Rabun County is expected to take about 10 days and use a crew of perhaps 100, he said.
No casting call has been issued for local residents wanting to get in on the movie, Cleaveland said, but the local economic impact is expected to be significant.
“A hundred people will need hotel rooms, and they'll have to eat,” he said. “They'll probably buy some of their props around here, too.”An intangible but just as significant impact, he said, will be the boost in exposure that the area will reap just from the connection with a film involving two major box office stars.The major Rabun County filming is scheduled to happen at Tallulah Gorge State Park and Black Rock Mountain State Park.According to an interview with the director in The Hollywood Reporter film industry bulletin, the Millenium Films and Corsan Pictures movie casts DeNiro as a military veteran living in a remote mountain cabin.
